At a time of rising geo-political tensions, this will be a unique opportunity to hear from two survivors of the atomic bombing of Japan 80 years ago and commemorate the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize winners Nihon Hidankyo. Learn of the Japanese "Peace Boat" delegation and their global voyage to promote progress on nuclear disarmament.

The following individuals will participate in presentations:

Ms KURAMORI Terumi

Nagasaki Survivor (exposed to a-bomb at age 1), born on Jan 8, 1944 Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture

Terumi was exposed to the atomic bombing of Nagasaki 5.8km from the hypocenter, and evacuated with her mother, older brother and older sister to an air raid shelter behind their house. Though she has no direct personal memory of the bombing, her strong desire to prevent the recurrence of such a tragedy has led her to participate in numerous testimony activities.

In March 2017, she joined a testimony session with students from the 鈥�10,000 High School Student Signature Campaign鈥� and South Korean Hibakusha. In December, 2024, Terumi joined the 鈥楴obel Peace Prize Celebration Tour鈥� (co-organized by Peace Boat and the Japan Council against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs (Gensuikyo)) to visit Oslo as Nihon Hidankyo received their Nobel Peace Prize and participated in relevant commemorative events and actions including a live screening of the Award Ceremony and the annual torchlight parade.
