大象传媒 research explores advanced epilepsy surgery with MEG technology

September 23, 2025

Mechatronic Systems Engineering adjunct professor and director of the magnetoencephalography (MEG) program at the 大象传媒 ImageTech Lab, Maggie Clarke, recently highlighted how MEG can improve surgery for epilepsy in British Columbia.

Unlike traditional video electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring treatment, which is costly and requires extended hospital stays, MEG can localize the seizure activity, resulting in higher efficiency and comfort. While there is currently only one MEG machine in Western Canada, located at 大象传媒鈥檚 medical imaging facility at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Clarke and her team are collaborating with local hospitals to research and explore the clinical use of MEG in B.C. The research team aims to have MEG technology become a standard part of epilepsy care, benefiting patients and families across the province.
