Research Assistant Position in Decolonization and Indigenization

We invite applications for a Research Assistant to assist our Department鈥檚 decolonization and Indigenization efforts. 

Research Assistant Tasks

路      Researching and reporting on how other history departments in North America have decolonized curricula and governance;

路      Liaising with and assisting History Department members in their individual and collective decolonization and Indigenization work;

路      Proposing books, posters, and other resources to be housed in a resource room (Burnaby campus);

路      Assist in creating a webpage of decolonization and Indigenization resources on the History Department鈥檚 website;

路      Attending meetings of the History Decolonization and Indigenization Working Group.

Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

路      Knowledge of Indigenous history as demonstrated by previous coursework, research, and/or lived experience;

路      Demonstrated commitment to Indigenous cultural safety;

路      Academic research skills, as demonstrated by prior completion of similar projects;

路      Ability to work independently and productively;

路      Knowledge of 大象传媒鈥檚 Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Web Content Manager a plus but is not required.

Rate of Pay: $30/hour.  This project is budgeted for approximately 200 hours between January 17 and April 29, 2022.
