Tara Holland, PhD

Tara Holland is a Lecturer in the Geography Department and School of Environmental Science, and the Faculty of Environment Teaching Fellow. Her teaching is interdisciplinary and student-centred, and she is continually working to develop pedagogy and curriculum that fosters student motivation, engagement, and metacognition. She has completed three Teaching and Learning Development Grant projects, researching the impact of two-stage collaborative exams on student anxiety and performance; instructional interventions that improve climate literacy in a first-year breadth climate change course; and the impact of weekly formative assessments on engagement, motivation, and learning in remote courses.

In her current Faculty Teaching Fellow role and prior position as a Science Teaching and Learning Fellow at UBC, Dr. Holland has mentored faculty and graduate students in the development of their teaching practice. Her research into pedagogy and teaching development has been published in College Teaching and the Journal of College Science Teaching. Dr. Holland is currently developing a Teaching Squares program for peer teaching observation and reflection in the Faculty of Environment, and her Amundsen Fellowship project will involve assessing the program鈥檚 effectiveness in impacting faculty teaching practices and attitudes/beliefs about teaching.

Dara Culhane, PhD

Amundsen Fellow

Dara Culhane teaches Anthropology at 大象传媒. Her work is inspired by practices of sensuous, creative, and imaginative ethnography, and a fascination with voice and oral/aural performance infuses her research and pedagogy. She is an associate teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, and her current work in progress includes 鈥淓ncore! Travels With The Ghost of Margaret Sheehy,鈥� a manuscript inspired by memory work; 鈥淗ear Me Looking At You,鈥� a solo performance drawn from archival research; and, 鈥淧laying With Worlds,鈥� an experimental film with children in collaboration with Simone Rapisarda. Dara鈥檚 work with the CIE inside and outside academe is driven by her desire to support original critical work, and hope.

Leith Davis, PhD

Leith Davis is Professor of English at 大象传媒 in Canada. She is the author of Acts of Union: Scotland and the Negotiation of the British Nation (Stanford UP, 1998) and Music, Postcolonialism and Gender: The Construction of Irish Identity, 1724-1874 (Notre Dame UP, 2005) as well as co-editor of Scotland and the Borders of Romanticism (Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 2004) and Robert Burns and Transatlantic Culture (Ashgate, 2012). Her recent projects include: a monograph entitled Mediating Cultural Memory in Britain and Ireland, 1688-1745 (which explores cultural memory in the British archipelago in relation to the shifting media ecology of the early eighteenth century); a Digital Humanities project on the eighteenth-century Jacobite manuscript of 鈥淭he Lyon in Mourning鈥� by Robert Forbes; and a Digital Humanities project on . She is currently the Co-ordinator of the Department of English鈥檚 specialization in Print Culture as well as Director of 大象传媒's Centre for Scottish Studies ().
