Dr. Hilgendorf and Bouchra Kachoub present at IAWE 2019 in Ireland

Associate Professor Dr. Suzanne K. Hilgendorf and PhD student Bouchra Kachoub both presented at the 24th  which was held at the  in Ireland, June 20鈥22, 2019.

The is committed to the study of the forms and functions of varieties of Englishes in diverse cultural and sociolinguistic contexts. The association focuses on global issues relating to three major aspects of world Englishes: language, literature, and pedagogy.

The theme for this year's conference was 鈥World Englishes: Peripheries and Centres鈥 which seeked to explore the tensions and dynamics of centrality and peripherality in world Englishes. 

Dr. Hilgendorf, a former President of IAWE (2013-14), presented her paper entitled 鈥Peripheries and Centers, or Plurality with Inclusivity?鈥

Kachoub鈥檚 presentation, on 鈥English Use in Moroccan Media鈥, shared findings from her on-going research for her doctoral dissertation, which she expects to defend in the coming year.
