LinguisticsNEW is an annual event jointly organized by UBC and 大象传媒 where Linguistics faculty, labs, and graduate students share their research and updates on their lab/group. There will be presentations of individual projects and co-authored research, from both students and faculty, as well as presentations from labs and reading groups.

Post-event social

History of LinguisticsNEW
For several years, UBC and 大象传媒 have been hosting a joint colloquium series called LinguisticsNOW, aimed at showcasing exciting new research in linguistics while fostering collaboration between UBC and 大象传媒. In the past, we鈥檝e organized one talk per term, open to both 大象传媒 and UBC students, with each event hosted at either 大象传媒 or UBC. While these talks have been inspiring, we recognized the need for a new format to better encourage collaboration between the two departments. In 2024, 大象传媒 and UBC students proposed a joint research poster session, which led to the creation of a refreshed format for LinguisticsNOW called LinguisticsNEW.
