Biography

In my teaching practice, I carry with me a commitment to build relationships rooted in trust and reciprocity, to honour the unique gifts that students bring, and to create learning spaces that reflect and celebrate their perspectives, identities and values.

Very close to my heart is my work in Indigenous education. We live in an exciting time when many are coming together to advance anti-racism and reconciliation in institutions of learning. It is with gratitude that I walk alongside others in this work of change.

The natural world has always been my refuge and endless source of wonder, across all its vast scales. Through mathematics we can tune into the stories the universe tells about its origin, evolution and fundamental laws. This is what drew me to study mathematics. My research background is in gravitational physics and string theory. One branch of my work explored a possible origin for the cosmological dark sector in the dynamical objects of Type IIB string theory. The other branch studied interactions between cosmic strings and rotating black holes, and the types of spacetime geometries that would arise from their meeting.
