BC Support Unit Fraser Centre
People-Centred and Partner-Oriented Research (PCPOR) engages people with lived and/or living experience (PWLE) of a health issue or the health care system and knowledge users to increase the excellence, relevance and impact of health research.
PWLE can also include family members, caregivers, or community members who have supported others through these experiences. Knowledge users include interested professionals, groups, or organizations who may use the produced research to inform their decisions and actions.
What we do
PCPOR brings together excellence, impact, and relevance by centering the voices of people directly impacted by health systems, services, and research.
Excellence
Leverages insight that is gained through lived and professional experience
Impact

Relevance
Focuses on issues that matter to people and communities we serve

鈥our perspectives are essential to advancing research that addresses real-world priorities, reduces health inequities, and improves systems of care for everyone.
This approach challenges traditional research approaches by valuing all forms of expertise鈥攊ncluding experiential knowledge鈥攁s essential to shaping questions, processes, and outcomes that matter.
