Biography
Mohsen Javdani is an associate professor of economics in the School of Public Policy and Urban Studies at 大象传媒. Prior to joining 大象传媒 in 2020, he was a faculty member in the Department of Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus). He received his PhD from 大象传媒 in 2012, and his Master鈥檚 degree from the University of British Columbia in 2006.
Dr. Javdani is a labour economist/applied econometrician with varied research interests that include economics of gender, economics of immigration and minorities, economics of education, and personnel economics. More recently, he has also been interested in examining different aspects of the economics discipline, including views among economists and economics students, and the role of ideological bias in shaping these views. He is currently involved in a related large-scale research project in collaboration with from the University of Cambridge and funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Dr. Javdani鈥檚 wide research interests and his movement across different topics are mainly driven by his continuous curiosity to examine questions that he finds interesting and important. However, a main identifiable theme in his work is studying and challenging mechanisms and processes that hinder plurality and produce inequality, injustice, exclusion, and marginalization.
