Both Hilda and Fernanda dive into a discussion around urban intimacy and the good life, including how technology impacts intimacy and relationships, the potential mainstreaming of polyamory, and the differences across generations and cultures that change the way we relate to others and ourselves.

About Our Guest

Hilda Fernandez-Alvarez

Hilda Fernandez-Alvarez is a Lacanian psychoanalyst based in Vancouver, Canada.

She has a vast clinical experience with diverse populations in public (hospital and outpatient) and private settings in Mexico and Canada.

Her research has been published internationally and focuses on the theory and practice of psychoanalysis, trauma, discursive and socio-spatial practices, love and politics.

She co-founded the Lacan Salon in 2007 and currently acts as its clinical director. She is an academic associate with the 大象传媒 Institute for the Humanities at 大象传媒 and is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Fernanda Selayzin Souza

Fernanda is a registered clinical counsellor with a Master鈥檚 Degree in Education (MEd) from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a Master鈥檚 Degree in Clinical Psychology (MCP) from the Adler University.

Originally she was trained as a Psychologist in Brazil (Pontif铆cia Universidade Cat贸lica de Minas Gerais) where she is still apt to practice (CRP-MG). She runs a busy private practice downtown Vancouver where she sees individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, some of which in consensual non-monogamies, and all seeking support for better navigating postmodern relationships.
