Prospective Students
Graduate Students
Dr. Hou will be accepting new graduate students to the 大象传媒 Counselling Psychology program for the 2025 application cycle (Fall 2026 admissions).
Prospective students with an interest in the following areas of interests are encouraged to apply:
- exploring how culture shapes the health and well-being of immigrant, racialized, or neurodivergent youth people and families.
- creating and testing culturally responsive strategies to improve care experiences and engagement in care for young people with serious illnesses, such as eating disorders or cancer.
Please visit the 大象传媒 Counselling Psychology graduate program for more information.
Dr. Hou welcomes inquiries from prospective graduate students in other areas within the Faculty of Education at 大象传媒 and related fields, where there is a strong alignment of research interests and subject to further discussion.
Undergraduate Students
We are currently accepting applications for undergraduate students to join our team. Students gain hands-on research experience at the intersection of clinical/counseling cultural, and pediatric psychology, and contribute to ongoing projects focused on culture, child and youth health, and implementation science/knowledge mobilization.
Opportunities are available through volunteer research assistant positions, work-study programs, and summer studentships. A minimum commitment of 6 hours per week is required, with availability during regular business hours at 大象传媒鈥檚 Burnaby campus and occasionally at BC Children鈥檚 Hospital Research Institute.
If you are interested in getting involved, please email Dr. Sharon Hou at sharon_hou@sfu.ca to request an application form.
