Introducing Megh Marathe: New faculty member in ´óÏó´«Ã½ GSWS
The Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (GSWS) at ´óÏó´«Ã½ (´óÏó´«Ã½) is pleased to welcome assistant professor Megh Marathe (they/them).
Marathe's research seeks to foster inclusion in the tools and practices that experts — such as doctors and engineers — use to make decisions about people’s lives. Their work advances the fields of human-computer interaction, science & technology studies, and disability studies. They enjoy collaborating across disciplinary boundaries.
Currently, Marathe is leading two research projects. Through one project, they are investigating the uneven representation of transgender people in digital infrastructures. Through the other, they are seeking ways to help epilepsy patients and practitioners collaborate using data generated by medical devices.
Before ´óÏó´«Ã½, Marathe was an assistant professor at Michigan State University and President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at University of California, Irvine. They received a PhD in Information from the University of Michigan.
Students will have the opportunity to enrol in courses taught by Marathe starting in Spring 2026.
