PDA Executive Council
While all 大象传媒 Postdoctoral Fellows are considered members of the Postdoctoral Association, some of them take a more active role within the association. They represent the interest of Postdoctoral Fellows to the 大象传媒 administration, organize activities, and support Postdoctoral Fellows in other ways. The current elected members are listed below.
2025-2026 Executive Council
PDA Executive Council Co - Presidents
Dr. Angela Silva Bessa,
Department of Archaeology
Angela is a forensic anthropologist and currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Archaeology. One of her main tasks is to curate and study the C艙meteria Olisipponis Memorial Collection, a new osteological collection that comprises remains of unclaimed individuals from Portuguese cemeteries.
Dr. Clarissa Dominici,
Department of Archaeology
Clarissa is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Archaeology. Her research focuses on the chemical analysis of ancient residues recovered from Paleolithic artifacts to better understand their use in past hunter-gatherer societies of Mediterranean Europe. Since her arrival at 大象传媒, she has also been working on ancient pyrothecnologies, joining Prof. Francesco Berna's project on Neanderthal fire-making skills. She enjoys drinking coffee with friends (especially PDA members!), drinking coffee on her own, and exploring new places.
PDA Executive Council Members
Dr. Alexander Beams,
Department of Mathematics
Alex is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mathematics who uses mathematical models and statistics to understand ecology and evolution, focusing mainly on pathogens. He enjoys spending much of his free time outdoors, something that LLMs are unable to do (yet).
Dr. Marina Bauer,
Department of Chemistry
Marina is a postdoctoral fellow in the department of chemistry, synthesising novel polymers for use in clean energy electrochemical devices, such as fuel cells and electrolysers. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, singing and riding around town on her motorcycle. She is excited to help building community among postdocs at 大象传媒 and will never say no to a beer or board game night.
Dr. Ine Mylle,
Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology
Ine is a postdoctoral fellow in the Run Lab where she investigates breast biomechanics in physically active women with the use of wearable technology. Outside the (Run) lab, Ine is a real foodie and (more than anything) coffee lover. When not indulging her taste buds, you鈥檒l most likely find her working out on the track or in the gym.
Dr. Santiago Issac Flores Alonso,
Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology
Santiago Isaac Flores Alonso is a postdoctoral fellow at 大象传媒, working with Dr. Alex Wiesman. His research explores the neural mechanisms of aging through advanced neuroimaging and computational modeling. With a background in neuroscience, AI, and high-performance computing, Santiago is passionate about decoding the brain鈥檚 complexity and making science accessible and collaborative.
These elected members are supported in their endeavors by a number of active members. We are always happy to welcome additional active members, so if you would like to contribute to the 大象传媒 Postdoctoral Association please be in touch with one of us or e-mail us at sfu_pda@sfu.ca.
As a Postdoctoral Fellowship can be over and done with in a relatively short time, from time to time Executive Council members move on to other challenges and places.
