Social interactions
Self-care routines (e.g., hair care, tooth brushing, hand washing)
Household chores (e.g., laundry, cleaning up)
Age-typical play skills that can be generalized to social situations
Please note: Data collection is a required part of this role, and all necessary tracking sheets and paperwork will be provided.
A Day in the Life:
Our client is a highly creative and active individual. Their special interests include LEGO, drawing manga/Hello Kitty, fairies and "miniature worlds," makeup and nail beauty, board games, puzzles, and Minecraft. They are also highly physical and enjoy activities like swimming, aerial silks, and gymnastics.
With a Car: You will pick up our client from school and drive them to an after-school activity or to their home in the Southlands/Dunbar area to work on specific planned skills through play.
Without a Car: The first part of your shift will involve helping our client learn how to take public transportation and ride the bus home to the Southlands/Dunbar area. The second part will be spent at home, working on planned skills through playful activities.
Our goal is to create a predictable weekly schedule that balances routine activities with focused, playful skill development.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone with a passion for building relationships and a deep understanding of neurodiversity. The ideal candidate will have:
Experience as a Behaviour Interventionist (1-3 years minimum).
Experience with a relationship-based, playful approach to intervention.
Experience supporting children with similar diagnoses (ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety).
A formal education in a related field is a significant asset.
Experience with non-ABA approaches, such as DIR Floortime, is highly valued.
The ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt plans as our client's skills evolve.
A positive, patient, and flexible attitude.
If you are a compassionate and dedicated individual who is excited about making a meaningful difference in a child's life, we encourage you to apply.
