Biography

Georgia Huggan is a settler of Ukrainian and Scottish descent, who works and lives as an uninvited guest on the traditional and unceded territories of the x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam), Skwxw煤7mesh (Squamish), and S蓹l虛铆lw蓹ta蓙涩 (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.  

In her current position, Georgia supports the coordination of the Indigenizing Health Research Ethics project, which works to advance distinctions-based and culturally safe approaches to health research ethics across Canada. As Project Manager, she is dedicated to promoting Indigenous health and wellness through her work.  

She completed her BA in Gender, Sexuality, Feminism and Social Justice at McGill University, followed by a MA degree in Gender Studies at Central European University in Vienna, Austria.  

Her current research interests:  Indigenous health and wellbeing, Critical Allyship, Health Equity, Gender bias in medicine, Indigenous Traditional Medicine, Cultural Safety and Humility, and Nation-based Ethical Protocols.
