Join ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Community Engagement and Dialogue Unit as a volunteer!

´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Community Engagement and Dialogue Unit (CE&D) supports the university and community by convening evidence-informed conversations on the world's complex challenges, and expands the capacity for mutual learning, co-creation, and shared problem solving. 

CE&D Event Volunteers will assist in hosting inclusive and transformative events with the many initiatives of the Unit including but not limited to the Centre for Dialogue and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Public Square.

Event Volunteers will contribute in a variety of ways such as:

  • Pre-event planning and logistics;
  • Day-of event hospitality (working the registration table, catering, room set-ups, audience management; 
  • Table facilitation and note-taking;
  • Social media, photography, composing post-event recaps and blogs;
  • and more!

Gain event-hosting, communication, and leadership skills, connect with community, and enjoy behind-the-scenes access to exciting public events — all while making a real impact.

Position and Time Commitment

This position supports the Community Engagement and Dialogue Unit’s events during a given semester, as an on call/as needed volunteer. Roles available may vary depending on event formats, allowing volunteers to gain experience in a variety of skills throughout the semester.

Time commitment: For this position, volunteers will commit to attending and supporting 2-3 upcoming events programmed during the coming semester and to staying up-to-date with the pre-event content.

Responsibilities

  • Working at the registration table, audience management/mic-running, note-taking, ushering crowds, and/or writing event recaps and blogs on an event or series.
  • Attending all mandatory training sessions, event preparation meetings, and keeping up-to-date with event information.
  • Communicating development goals, capacity, and availability with staff in a timely manner.
