The work of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) asks us to listen, grow and take action to dismantle the powers, systems, thinking, histories and biases that create barriers in our community. 大象传媒鈥檚 strategic priority of transforming the 大象传媒 experience strives to create an environment where all faculty, staff and students can flourish. We will integrate processive people practices centering equity, following 大象传媒鈥檚 Equity Compass, and maintain an environment of inclusive excellence.

This toolkit is designed to assist individual departments, organizations, faculty, and staff members who are interested in integrating EDI principles into their work. It offers a systematic, step-by-step guide, with questions and resources, to help you efficiently create and build your EDI planning team or committee. Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI)

大象传媒 is a founding employer partner of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI). CCDI helps employers effectively address the full picture of diversity, equity and inclusion within the workplace. As part of this partnership, staff and faculty have access to webinars, events and the CCDI eLibrary.

Registration Information

To register for a webinar or event, use your 大象传媒 email address and select the "Employer Partner" option during the registration process. You can also access the knowledge repository by  using your 大象传媒 email address. 

National Centre for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

大象传媒 has an institutional membership with NCFDD to support the academic and career goals of our faculty members, graduate students and post-docs. The NCFDD is an independent professional development organization dedicated to supporting academics throughout their careers by providing professional development, training, and mentoring resources.

Membership information

To activate your NCFDD account, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to 大象传媒's
  2. Select 鈥淎ctivate my Membership鈥
  3. Complete the registration form using your 大象传媒 institutional email address (ex. john_smith@sfu.ca)
  4. Go to your 大象传媒 email to find a confirmation/welcome email. Click 鈥淎ctivate Account鈥 in the email.

RESPECT Program

The RESPECT program was designed at 大象传媒 to teach cultural safety and anti-racism for all employees. It focuses on the implications of such skills for engaging with Indigenous faculty, staff and students and engaging in reconciliation as an institution more generally.

Registration information

RESPECT is a 11-week, cohort-based proram. It uses a hybrid learning model combining self-study and personal reflection online, with online discussion and periodic in-person meetings. New cohort intake occurs on a semesterly basis.

San'yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety Training

is a unique, facilitated online training program designed to increase knowledge, enhance self-awareness, and strengthen the skills of those who work both directly and indirectly with Aboriginal people. Delivered by the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) Indigenous Health Program, this training aims to foster a climate where the unique history of Indigenous peoples is recognized and respected in order to provide appropriate care and services in an equitable and safe way, without discrimination.

Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) Learning Series

This is produced by the PHSA and guided by a Collaborative Circle of Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders. It focuses on exploring anti-Indigenous racism, discrimination and cultural safety, and identifying how each informs our systems, why they persist, and how we can address them.
