Diversity Meter 2019: Congratulations and next steps
This past November 大象传媒 launched its first , an initiative designed to help us better understand and serve our community. With your help, we surpassed the average response rate we usually achieve for staff and faculty surveys, achieving a completion rate of 38.25%. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who completed the survey and participated in this important process.
What happens next
The Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) is currently analyzing the data collected during Diversity Meter. In March, the CCDI will submit the combined results in a final report to 大象传媒鈥檚 Executive Sub-committee on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This report will be made public and released on the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion webpage.
Moving forward, the report findings will allow the Executive Sub-Committee to make informed decisions about programs, policies, and practices to support the 大象传媒 community. The results of the Diversity Meter survey will be used to develop, improve, and evaluate equity, diversity, and inclusion-related programs, policies, and practices that support all members of the 大象传媒 community.
One example of a related program is Dimensions. 大象传媒 recently became a pilot institution for the federal Dimensions program, which aims to recognize post-secondary institutions who are working to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion in their environments. The Diversity Meter data will help us identify, monitor, and evaluate gaps, barriers, and trends for the purpose of establishing objective, data-driven insights and goals to structure an equity, diversity and inclusion action plan.
Please stay tuned for future updates on the findings of Diversity Meter.
Once again, thank you for your participation in this ongoing initiative. Questions relating to Diversity Meter or EDI at 大象传媒 can be addressed to Theresa Burley at edi@sfu.ca.
Sincerely,
Joy Johnson and the Executive Sub-Committee on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
