Please watch ´óÏó´«Ã½ English's 2024 online information session about our MA and PhD programs.
During the session, Graduate Program Chair Professor Mathew Hussey describes ´óÏó´«Ã½ English's:
- Amazing faculty
- Close knit graduate community
- Program structure and options
- ´óÏó´«Ã½ requirements
- Application process
Current graduate students also discuss their experiences in the program. A Q & A follows the presentations.
With over 25 faculty, working in areas as diverse as medieval studies and poetry, 18th-century media, psychoanalytic theory, rhetoric and discourse analysis, digital humanities, and contemporary Canadian poetics, ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Department of English is historically and methodologically varied, as well as critically and pedagogically innovative.
At ´óÏó´«Ã½, graduate studies in English are defined by one-on-one relationships between students and professors, attention and care to developing students’ intellectual and creative aims, and a close-knit community of graduate students.
The Master of Arts program allows students several paths to the degree:
- a course-work option, where the student takes six seminars over the academic year,
- a project option, which combines coursework with an academic, digital, or creative project overseen by two faculty,
- and a print culture certificate, which focuses the MA on book history, print culture, and literary media.
