2025 TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award winners announced
大象传媒鈥檚 Beedie School of Business is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Awards: Dr. Kam Phung and Dr. Negar Ganjouhaghighi.
One of the most prestigious teaching honours at 大象传媒 Beedie, the TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes educators who demonstrate outstanding commitment to teaching excellence, innovation in pedagogy, and meaningful student engagement. Each year, nominations are submitted by students, alumni, and faculty, celebrating instructors who have made a lasting impact in the classroom and beyond.
About the winners
Dr. Kam Phung
Assistant Professor, Business and Society
Dr. Kam Phung is an Assistant Professor of Business & Society at 大象传媒 Beedie, where he teaches courses on sustainability across undergraduate, MBA, and Indigenous Business Leadership programs. His award-winning research explores how organizations and entrepreneurs drive innovation and change in response to social and ecological injustices, with studies spanning modern slavery, social stigmas, and climate action. Recognized by institutions such as the Academy of Management, SSHRC, and the Financial Times, Kam鈥檚 work is deeply rooted in immersive field research and community engagement. Prior to joining 大象传媒, he held academic roles at the University of Cambridge, UBC, and York University, and worked with sustainability-focused start-ups and nonprofits.
Dr. Negar Ganjouhaghighi
Lecturer, Management Information Systems
Dr. Negar Ganjouhaghighi brings a rich blend of academic expertise and industry experience to her teaching at 大象传媒 Beedie. With a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Calgary and a Master of Science in Economics and Finance from the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she offers a strong background in data science and business intelligence. Through her instruction, she equips students with the technical and strategic skills needed to thrive in today鈥檚 data-driven business environment.
Celebrating teaching excellence
Established in 1989 through a generous endowment from TD Canada Trust and matching funds from the provincial government, the TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award continues to honour faculty members who exemplify excellence in teaching and educational leadership. The selection process is overseen by the Teaching Effectiveness Committee, which reviews nominations and gathers feedback from students and colleagues to identify the most deserving recipients.
