Why did you decide to pursue an MSc Finance and what drew you to the 大象传媒 Beedie School of Business?

I chose the MSc in Finance at 大象传媒 Beedie for its depth and the flexibility to explore different career paths. The Research stream's rigorous courses, like Business Econometrics, offer valuable skills in empirical research and data analysis using Python. The chance to gain professional experience through the $20+ million SIAS Fund was a major draw鈥攊t provides hands-on exposure to Excel, Bloomberg, and developing investment theses, all of which are useful for coffee chats and industry networking. The combination of practical learning, career-focused opportunities, and a supportive community made Beedie the ideal choice for me.

What has been your moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

Some of my most memorable moments at Beedie have been participating in the internal runs of case competitions, where I got to work with students from different programs, blending diverse perspectives to tackle complex challenges. I鈥檝e also enjoyed meeting and interacting with students from non-business programs at 大象传媒 through student housing, which has broadened my network and enriched my experience. I'm looking forward to taking over management of the SIAS portfolio from the previous cohort and applying my skills in a real-world investment setting. The opportunity to work closely with an industry advisor will also be invaluable for gaining insights and refining our strategies

How would you describe 大象传媒 Beedie鈥檚 culture?

From my experience, 大象传媒 Beedie has a very welcoming and supportive culture that makes it a great place to learn. The environment is dynamic, with the curriculum constantly evolving to stay in line with industry demands, combining practical experiences with theoretical insights. I feel that the facilities are designed with student comfort in mind, allowing us to focus fully on learning. The community is also incredibly inclusive, where diverse perspectives are encouraged, and everyone鈥攆rom faculty to peers and industry advisors鈥攊s invested in helping each other succeed. It鈥檚 truly a place where you can grow and thrive.
