Biography

Aaron Iny (he/him) is a second-generation settler of mixed Middle Eastern and European descent. He currently resides as an uninvited guest on the unceded and occupied territories of the x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam), S岣祑x瘫w煤7mesh 脷xwumixw (Squamish), s蓹l虛ilw虛蓹ta蕯涩 (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. 

Aaron is in his first year of the Master of Public Health Program at 大象传媒 and previously completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours degree at Queen's University. He is passionate about advocating for health equity and sovereignty for 2SLGBTQI+ and Indigenous communities through community-led, strengths-based approaches.

In his current role as a practicum student, Aaron is dedicated to Indigenizing and decolonizing structural systems and policies to promote Indigenous health, wellness, and self-determination. Through his work on the Convening and Collaborating (C2) project, Aaron aims to identify and implement actionable priorities to addressing First Nations-specific racism in the BC health care system.
