Introductory Top-Rop Belay Course

Learn the basics of top-rope belaying from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Climbing Wall instructors. This 2-HOUR COURSE introduces how to use and inspect basic climbing equipment, how to safely manage a climber on the wall and discusses climbing gym etiquette.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 14.

Lead Climbing Course

Leading is an essential skill for experienced climbers looking to expand the scope of their climbing. This 3-HOUR COURSE covers clipping, dynamic belay techniques, risk assessment/management and proper fall arrest techniques.

Age Requirements: Minimum age is 16 years.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Must have passed a top-rope belay test at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Climbing Wall. A minimum of 6-months top-rope climbing experience is strongly recommended. 
  • Must be consistently and confidently climbing at the 5.10b level and able to climb slightly overhanging terrain without hanging or falling. 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Due to the nature of the course content, instructors reserve the right to cancel the course if 1 or more participants are late by 15 minutes or more. Please arrive 5 -10 minutes before your scheduled course to meet your instructor and ensure you are ready to go on time. 
  • Courses are 3 hours long. Please ensure both partners are able to stay for the entire duration. 
  • Courses run at a 1:2 staff to participant ratio. If you don't have a climbing partner to take the course with, let us know and we will add you to our waitlist.
  • For safety reasons, climbing partners must be of similar weight. Neither partner must outweigh the other by 130% or more (e.g.: If Partner 1 is 100lbs, Partner 2 cannot be more than 130lbs).
