Using Eventbrite
Eventbrite is a key tool used by 大象传媒 faculty and department communicators for event management and promotion. For workshops, lectures, or public events - use this tool to create event listings, manage registrations, and track attendance.
Note: You must manually copy your events to LiveWhale to add them to the . Events hosted through Eventbrite will not be automatically added.
Create an Event
For any event organized by 大象传媒 faculties and departments, or any joint event partnered with other institutions, a collection notice (presented as a question in the 鈥淥rder Form鈥 section of an event) must be included to comply with B.C. privacy regulations. To ensure this inclusion alongside 大象传媒鈥檚 financial information, C&M has provided an event template for each faculty and VP sub-account. Please note that the template does not contain tax information; for events that involve tax charges, contact digital@sfu.ca.
Important Considerations:
- A PIA has been updated for Eventbrite, please read Privacy and Collection Notice prior to requesting a new account.
To create an event from the event template:
Log into , click on your name located in the upper right corner of the site and choose 鈥淢anage my events鈥.
From the 鈥淯pcoming events鈥 drop-down menu, select 鈥淒raft鈥 or 鈥淧ast鈥 to filter an event template started with 鈥淭EMPLATE for [your department]鈥.
Click on the three dots at the end of the template and click 鈥淐opy Event鈥.
Change the event title, summary, starts and end time then click 鈥淐opy Event鈥.

Image Tips
Images can help add visual appeal to your event. Please don鈥檛 use random web images. If you do not have an image for your event, use one from鈥大象传媒 C&M's stock library. Avoid images with text as the additional information can distract your audience.
Image specifications:
Image dimensions: Use at least 2160 x 1080px (2:1 ratio) image. A 2:1 ratio image is a horizontal image twice as wide as it is tall.
Accepted file types: JPEG, PNG or BMP
- Image file size: Up to 10MB
Public vs. Private events
Events are public by default. You can choose to make your event private or public.鈥
When to choose a public event:
If your event is open to all, go with a public event.
- Public events are visible in Eventbrite鈥檚 public events directory and through major search engines.
When to choose a private event:
If your event requires registration but is for a specific audience, consider using a private event.
This keeps registration to a specific group and allows you to invite targeted audiences.
There are three ways of sharing your private event: link sharing, invitation-only and with a password.鈥
