The Audain Gallery at the School for the Contemporary Arts is pleased to announce Report on the Thing, an interdisciplinary exhibition of work by undergraduate and graduate students Constance Arden, Caroline Chernega, Chelsea MacKay, Carlo Marchet, Taha Saraei, and Kaleb Thiessen. The artists in the exhibition produced new work in response to a consideration of Clarice Lispector鈥檚 short text, 鈥溾 (1974). Lispector鈥檚 story concerns ideas of categorization, offering seemingly contradictory observations about how we perceive and know phenomena of the world; everything is like something, just as everything is unlike something else.

Artworks in the exhibition include a painting composed through process-based collage, a work complicating the functioning of historical consumer electronics, a video about the neighbourhood, a sculptural photo installation, and sculptural assemblages.

Report on the Thing is the first in the Perel series, a series of exhibitions by students chosen by students, facilitated by The Perel Committee. The Perel series includes thematic group exhibitions and open calls that will be scheduled throughout the year alongside our annual BFA and MFA exhibitions, and shows by professional artists.
